My HP app says "check your account, a problem has occurred with your HP account and you will be unable to print unless this issue is resolved." I am not subscribed to anything, and have downloaded the new HP app (replacing HP Smart) on all 3 of our devices. I just re-registered the printer on all 3 devices.

 

Note that I can get it to print by issuing the printer request from my device, and then pressing the Copy button on the printer. It then prints my document plus the status page.

 

I can’t seem to select an OS or product name, so my OS is IOS 18, and my printer is an HP Laser Jet MFP M140w.

Thanks for sharing those details—this situation sounds incredibly frustrating, especially when everything seems properly set up and you're still blocked from printing. You're doing all the right things by re-registering and updating the app across devices.

 

Here’s a structured approach that has helped others resolve similar account-related issues with the HP LaserJet MFP M140w:

 

Ensure that your printer is connected to internet.

 

Open the HP Smart app on your computer/ laptop, if the printer is not added, please click on add the printer on top. Select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions to get your printer configured on the app.

 

Once done, from HP Smart, select your printer, and then click or tap Advanced Settings

 

If the web browser displays a message indicating that the website is unsafe, select the option to continue. Accessing the website will not harm your device.

 

● If prompted, enter the default user name and password of the printer.

– User Name: admin

– Password: Open the cartridge access door, and see the label inside the printer

 

On the System tab, click Service.

 

In the Restore Defaults area, click the Restore Defaults button

The printer automatically restarts

 

This would remove any incorrect firmware updates from the printer and would put the printer in setup mode.

 

Once the printer is back on, disconnect the USB. Ethernet cable, uninstall and reinstall the HP smart app, open the app, and click on add printer on top. Select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions to get your printer configured on the app.

The HP Smart app has been superseded by the HP app, which is quite different. I can't find "Advanced Settings", so I can't get any further with your instructions.
