Advanced reset procedure

HP Recommended
HP Envy 5030

Hi, I've been having an issue with my printer where it prints only the outline of text and sometimes other shapes. I've tried different procedures including the soft reset from the printer settings. Given I have found no solution, I hope you could share with me how to completely reset my printer as a last chance.

@ZombieFake, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the print quality is not satisfactory. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue, a reset will not help as this is a hardware issue:

Try making a standalone copy in color and black to check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Check the estimated ink levels and replace any low/empty ink cartridge.

Clean the ink cartridges

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup .

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Cartridges.

  3. If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Yes when prompted to perform the next level of cleaning.

  4. NOTE: If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report from the printer control panel, and then evaluate the results.

  1. Load the printer with plain white paper.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup .

  3. Touch Tools.

  4. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Apparently even tho the black cartridge wasn't empty, changing it solved the issue. Now the problem is another one. I can't connect to Instant Ink! The printer is showing as online yet Instant Ink service cannot connect to it. Because of that, my new compatible cartridge isn't getting activated. I've tried removing Web Services and readding them, I tried a soft reset and I obviously tried turning it on and off and trying at different times. Still nothing.
