Depending on the model and the amount of printing you are doing and where you are located HP does offer a program called SMP. You will need to engage an HP partner dealer to get this program but offers substantial discounts on OEM toner.
In terms of 3rd party toner there are a few pitfalls to watch out for. If the toner is so cheap it seems impossible that is a red flag for toners that will leak or not have a proper chip on them which results in 10 errors. If you go 3rd party make sure you are buying from a vendor who stands behind the product and will clean your printer at no charge if a cartridge should leak. Also keep in mind that colours may not be exactly the same as OEM when using 3rd party.
