Hi @Leo1048,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering an error message like "There is a problem with the printer or ink system" after changing a cartridge, it usually indicates an issue with the ink system or cartridge installation. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.:
  • Leave the printer unplugged for about 60 seconds to reset any internal components.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

2. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Open the printer’s access door to access the cartridges.
  • Carefully remove the new cartridges from their slots.
  • Reinstall the cartridges one at a time, ensuring they click into place. Make sure they are properly seated.
  • Check for any protective tape or packaging that might have been left on the cartridges.
  • Ensure that the cartridges are compatible with your printer model.

3. Check for Ink Cartridge Issues

  • Look for any visible damage on the cartridges. If a cartridge appears damaged, consider replacing it.
  • Gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol. Let the contacts dry completely before reinstalling.

4. Perform a Printer Reset

  • With the printer on, press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds. This can help reset the printer’s internal systems.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  • Download and install any available firmware updates for your printer. Follow the instructions to complete the update.

6. Run Printer Diagnostics

  • If you have the HP Smart app or HP Printer Assistant installed, use it to run diagnostic tools or troubleshoot issues.
  • The software might provide specific instructions or solutions based on the error message.

7. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer that could be affecting the ink system.
  • Clear any paper jams or debris from the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
