Hi @JimCon17,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how stressful this can be, especially after a power outage when you expect your printer to restart normally. The HP Envy 7855 stuck on the first dot during boot usually indicates a firmware corruption or hardware initialization issue caused by a sudden power loss.

Here’s what you can try:

Step 1: Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  2. Unplug it from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and power ON.

Step 2: Check for Surge Damage

  • If possible, connect the printer directly to a wall outlet (not a surge protector or UPS).
  • Inspect for any blinking lights or error codes.

Step 3: Attempt Recovery Mode

  • With the printer OFF, press and hold the Power button and Cancel (X) button together, then plug in the power cord.
  • If the printer enters Recovery Mode, you can reinstall the firmware.

Step 4: Update/Reinstall Firmware

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
