HP Officejet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After a paper jam and subsequent removal of the paper, the printer started sending a message:  "INK SYSTEM FAILURE.  There is a problem with the printer or ink system.  Turn printer off, then on.  If problem persists, contact HP."  I followed the instructions, flushed the print head, and installed new cartridges.  Did not solve the problem.  The machine would still scan but not print.  Then I got a message that the the Y cartridge was being recognized as empty, even though I installed all new cartridges.  On the back of the print head, the contact for the Y cartridge appeared to be slightly damaged.  After trying everything again, the problem persisted.  Since it is a very good machine, I invested in a new print head.  After installing it, the problem still persists with the INK SYSTEM FAILURE message again.  Any suggestions?

@suzielouise, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that the printer is in an error state and I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

If you have already performed the steps from the document  Resolving 'Ink System Failure', 'System Supply Problem' Errors and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your message.  I followed all of the instructions to solve my problem.  Now the message I am getting is pictured below.  All 4 cartridges are HP and are brand new and the printhead is brand new.  I cannot find an answer to this issue.  I understand that HP has a warranty on its cartridges, but I cannot find any information about that.  I cannot find a service center in my area either.  I am in Reading, Pennsylvania 19607.  Any advice?  I really love this printer and want to be able to use it.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
