Hi all, I have an alignment issue and despite doing all the recommended things its still there. When I open the printer where the rollers are, you can clearly see the right side sitting higher than the left. It pushes back in to place but it still prints off.

Printer is in warranty, bought in July. Is this a common issue or is mine faulty?

Thanks in advance

Hello @Syrih861, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

From your description, it sounds like your printer may have a mechanical misalignment, especially since the right side of the roller assembly appears higher than the left. This is not typical and may indicate a hardware fault, especially if alignment attempts via software have failed.

Here are a few steps you can try:

Reset the Printer

Sometimes a full reset can help realign internal components:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Turn the printer back on.

Run a Printhead Alignment

Use the HP Smart app or your printer’s control panel:

  • Load plain white paper.
  • Open the HP Smart app > Select your printer > Go to Print Quality Tools > Choose Align Printheads.
  • Follow on-screen instructions. If prompted, scan the alignment page.

Inspect Ink Cartridges

Improperly seated cartridges can cause skewed prints:

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove and reinsert each cartridge carefully.
  • Ensure no protective tape remains and contacts are clean.

Since you mentioned the right side sits higher than the left, this could be a mechanical defect. If pressing it back temporarily helps but doesn't resolve the issue, it’s likely a hardware alignment fault. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
