I had an HP test yet 2155 I believe but I’m having issues so I purchased from someone there HP DeskJet 4158E. They’re all booed and lights. I’m not sure what the problem is, but I’m seeing that there’s no ink. Do I have to buy ink in order for the lights to go away and what if it’s another problem? I also have a problem connecting to the wireless. I use the default passcode of one to do for 5678. This isn’t working and I don’t know how to set up the Wi-Fi. I didn’t know that I might have to purchase HP every month and that’s expensive and I barely use it the printer so would not make sense to do it that way. I would simply print out a coloring page for my son who special needs that something to do because he doesn’t have normal school.

@ElliemayJ, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check the ink cartridges

The printer will blink all lights if the ink cartridges are missing, empty, not seated correctly, or not detected.
Remove both cartridges.
Wipe the electrical contacts gently with a dry cloth.
Reinsert them firmly until they click.
If the cartridges are empty, the lights will not clear until ink is installed.

Set up the Wi-Fi connection correctly

Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and Cancel button together for 3 seconds until the blue Wi-Fi light starts blinking. This puts the printer into setup mode.
Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.
Select Add Printer.
Choose the printer and enter your home Wi-Fi password (this is the password of your router, not the printer).
The default code “12345678” is only for Wi-Fi Direct, not for home Wi-Fi.

Disable or change Wi-Fi Direct if needed

If you want to use Wi-Fi Direct, press the Information button to print the information sheet.
The page shows the correct Wi-Fi Direct password.
Use that password when connecting a phone directly to the printer.
