Hello, my HP Deskjet 2260 series printer is not responding to anything, all lights flashing. I have tried resetting, have tried holding down the X and the wifi button but it is still showing offline despite all the lights flashing. Please help!

Hi @Rosanna112,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2260 series printer is showing all lights flashing and is not responding. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power reset the printer

Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Wait at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and restart.

Check for paper jams or obstructions

Open the input and output areas to make sure no paper is stuck.

Even small scraps can trigger error lights.

Remove and reseat cartridges

Open the cartridge access door and remove both cartridges.

Check for protective tape or debris, then reinstall them firmly until they click.

Reset the printer without cartridges

Power on the printer with cartridges removed.

If the lights stop flashing, reinstall cartridges one at a time to identify if one is faulty.

Check cartridge compatibility

Make sure you are using genuine HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges (depending on your region).

Non-HP or refilled cartridges can cause flashing error states.

Restore printer defaults

Press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wireless buttons together for 5 seconds.

This resets the printer to factory defaults and may clear the flashing lights.

Try connecting via USB

If Wi-Fi setup is blocked by the flashing lights, connect the printer to your PC with a USB cable.

This can sometimes bypass the error state and allow you to update firmware or run diagnostics.

Run HP Smart app diagnostics

Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.

If the printer is detected, run “Printer Maintenance” to check for error codes.

I hope this helps.
