As soon as I plug in my printer, the power line trips. How do I get this fixed? Where can I raise a support ticket?

@NpK88 Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like your printer might be causing a short circuit or drawing more power than the circuit can handle when plugged in. This is a pretty serious issue, so it’s important to proceed cautiously.

Here's a set of troubleshooting steps for a situation like this:

Check the Power Source

Test the Outlet: Plug another device (like a phone charger or lamp) into the same outlet to ensure the outlet is functioning correctly. If the other device trips the breaker as well, it might be an issue with the outlet itself, not the printer.

Try a Different Outlet: Plug the printer into a different power outlet, ideally on a different circuit, to see if the issue persists.

Inspect the Printer’s Power Cable

Check for Damage: Look closely at the printer’s power cable for any visible signs of wear, fraying, or damage. If the cable is damaged, it can cause a short circuit.

Replace the Power Cable: If the cable appears to be damaged, replacing it with a new one may fix the issue.

Check for Overloading

Avoid Power Strips: If you’re using a power strip, try plugging the printer directly into the wall outlet. Power strips, especially cheaper ones, might not be able to handle the printer’s power demands.

Unplug Other Devices: Make sure no other high-power devices (like space heaters or air conditioners) are on the same circuit as the printer, as they could be overloading the circuit.

Perform a Printer Reset

Unplug the Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 30 seconds.

Plug the Printer Back In: Plug the printer directly into the wall outlet and turn it back on. See if the issue persists.

Software and Firmware Update

Firmware: Check if your printer has any firmware updates available. Sometimes, issues like this can be due to a bug or software-related glitch. You can update the firmware from the printer’s control panel or through HP’s support website.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your reply. Tried the troubleshooting methods suggested.

Outlet seems fine. Other devices are working when plugged in to the same outlet.

Power cable seems fine as well. No visible damage and is working with other device.

I tried a different outlet as suggested. Now the line is not tripping, but the printer is not switching on and looks dead. Tried pressing the power button for a few seconds to no avail.

Please help.
