I was attempting to scan a 4 page document and right in the middle of it the printer says auto maintenance  in progress do not interrupt, so I get to just waste my time sitting there while the printer does who knows what! So I have tried to search to see what the heck it was even doing (fairly new printer hasn't printed that many pages honestly) and how to stop it as deciding in the middle of printing to kick on is super annoying.

So does anyone know what it is doing and why it is doing it how to to make it not do it at the most inconvenient times???

Thanks!

Hi @bagood

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

I believe the printer was updating its firmware.

On the printer, go to Setup > Printer maintenance > Update the printer > Update options > change as required.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
