HP DeskJet 3750 All-in-One Printer
Chrome OS

When I renewed my ink cartridges yesterday, a sheet printed out saying "the printer has not been set to install updates automatically." It goes on to say if I want the printer (Deskjet 3750) to automatically download and install these I should follow instructions to type the "following" URL in my web browser, and it supplies such for both Windows and Apple OS X. My printing is done, however, from my HP Chromebook which runs on neither of these systems, but on Chrome OS. Should I still be able to get updates installed automatically and, if so, how do I do it?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help.

These are the other ways to update the firmware: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Let me know if this helps.

If you use non-HP cartridges DO NOT update your firmware as you have a 50/50 chance of your cartridges being rejected by the printer, even though they previously worked.

Many thanks for your comments. I can say I always ensure I buy genuine HP cartridges - or at at least  one advertised as such by the supplier. I couldn't begin to change any setting without knowing what the instructions were for those using Chrome OS. Any further advice, please?

Many thanks for your reply, Betty0610. I have tried the link you gave me, but this doesn't appear to have helped at all.

I have not seen this message appear before when I have been printing, so I have to ask if automatic updates are a necessity as everything has seemed fine so far when I come to print. If they are, have you anything to add by way of further instructions as to what I should do?

Regards
