  •       11/4/2025  Having tried all the simpler traditional fixes  multiple times for the Envy 120e printer/scanner colored vertical line SNAFU (Hard Reset, Main printer/scanner flatbed glass cleaning, Firm- and Software Update searches, Alignments, ink cartridge checks/replacements using genuine HP Ink, etc.), I finally grew desperate enough to take the advice from a YouTube video titled "How to Repair HP Envy Scanner Permanently " .  If seven (7) other not-particularly-techy types  manged this, then why couldn't I.
  •       I removed the the panel lid that sits between the front of the of the Envy and the space occupied by the two ink cartilages, the one that covers all the wiring boards.  The suggested size 10 Trax bit adapter would've probably made quicker work of the 3 tiny black hex screws, but my "Precision Screwdriver Set" also did the job.   A  strong, hands-free overhead light would also be a good idea.
  •       Then, having gently disengaged the flat, blue-tagged cable from its very snug housing, I cleaned it with a Q-tip and distilled water (although a couple of my predecessors just used tap water and still reported success), I wiped it dry with a soft, lint-free cloth (not a dust cloth; those have usually been chemically treated)  and carefully reinstalled it.  For good measure, I did  the same thing to the 1st cable's adjoining partner because they're identical right down to the numbers,
  •       I'd further suggest first watching the YouTube video in order to have a clear understanding of the process.
  •      And, yes, so far, it's worked!
