Hi @richf62,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are encountering a message indicating that the cartridges are not communicating correctly with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer, it can be frustrating, especially if you're using Instant Ink cartridges. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Open the printer's cartridge access door and make sure each cartridge is securely seated in its slot.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, dirt or debris on the cartridge contacts can prevent communication. Turn off the printer, remove the cartridges, and gently wipe the contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dampened with distilled water. Allow the cartridges to dry for a few minutes before reinserting them.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Check Internet Connection: Since you're using Instant Ink, ensure that your printer is connected to the internet. This connection is crucial for Instant Ink cartridges to communicate with HP servers.
  • Reset the Printer: Sometimes, resetting the printer can resolve communication issues. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
