Hi @mohankg2005,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3525 e-All-in-One Printer is printing blank pages after installing a new black cartridge (HP 685), follow these troubleshooting steps:
1. Verify Cartridge Installation
- Make sure the black ink cartridge is correctly installed.
- Remove the cartridge, check for any tape or packaging materials that may still be attached, and reinsert it firmly.
2. Run a Printhead Cleaning
- The printhead could be clogged, which often happens after replacing cartridges. To fix this:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings.
- Navigate to Tools or Printer Maintenance.
- Select Clean Printhead.
- Follow the prompts to start the cleaning process. This may take several minutes.
3. Check Ink Levels
- Ensure the new cartridge is recognized and that it shows sufficient ink levels.
- On your printer’s control panel, go to Settings.
- Select Ink Levels and verify if the black ink level appears correct.
4. Align Printhead
- Misalignment can also cause issues. After installing a new cartridge:
- Go to Settings on the printer’s control panel.
- Select Tools or Printer Maintenance.
- Choose Align Printer.
5. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait 1-2 minutes before plugging it back in and powering it on.
6. Print a Test Page
- After performing the steps above, print a test page:
- Go to Settings → Tools → Print Test Page.
- Check if the black ink is now printing.
7. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Go to HP's support website, download any available updates for your printer model, and install them.
8. Try a Different Cartridge
- If possible, try using another black ink cartridge. The cartridge you installed might be defective, even if it’s new.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
