Hi @GeneM95,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 6520 printer is not printing black ink from your iPad but prints black from a Windows laptop, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the black ink cartridge has sufficient ink. Sometimes, printers may not print black if the cartridge is low or empty.

Printer Settings on iPad:

  • Open the document or photo you want to print on your iPad.
  • Tap on the Share button (usually represented by a box with an arrow pointing upward).
  • Select "Print" from the options.
  • Make sure that the correct printer (HP 6520) is selected.
  • Tap on "Options" or "Printer Options" to check if the color settings are correct. Ensure that "Black & White" or "Grayscale" mode is not selected if you want to print in color.

Restart iPad and Printer:

  • Sometimes, restarting both your iPad and printer can resolve communication issues.
  • Turn off both devices, wait for a minute, and then turn them back on.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP 6520 printer. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings menu accessed through its control panel or via the HP Smart app.

Check Printer Configuration:

  • Ensure that the printer is set up correctly on your home network and that both the iPad and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Reinstall Printer on iPad:

  • On your iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth & Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi.
  • Forget the current Wi-Fi network, reconnect to it, and then try printing again.
  • If the printer still doesn't print black, delete the printer from your iPad (Settings > Printers & Scanners > select printer > Delete) and then add it back (tap on "+" to add printer).

Printer Driver on Windows Laptop:

  • If the printer works fine from your Windows laptop, it indicates that the issue might be specific to the iPad. Ensure that the printer driver on your Windows laptop is up to date.

Check for App Updates:

  • Ensure that the app you are using to print from your iPad is updated to the latest version.

Printer Hardware Check:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with the printer related to its connection with the iPad.

Following these steps should help you identify and hopefully resolve the issue of your HP 6520 printer not printing black ink from your iPad.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
