Hi @Lfmorrison,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A blinking white/yellow light near the paper output area on your HP printer typically indicates a problem or error that needs addressing. Here are some common causes and steps to troubleshoot the issue:

**1. Check for Paper Jams

Inspect the Paper Path:

  • Open all accessible panels and trays, including the input tray, output tray, and rear access door if applicable.
  • Look for any jammed paper or foreign objects that could be blocking the paper path.

Remove Jammed Paper:

  • Carefully remove any jammed paper, taking care not to tear it. If paper is stuck, gently pull it out in the direction of the paper path.

**2. Check for Paper Size and Type

Verify Paper Type:

  • Ensure you are using the correct type and size of paper as specified for your printer. Check the printer's manual for compatible paper types and sizes.

Adjust Paper Guides:

  • Make sure the paper guides in the input tray are adjusted to fit the paper size correctly. Guides that are not aligned properly can cause paper feeding issues.

**3. Inspect and Clean the Printer

Clean the Printer:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the rollers and other paper handling components. Dust or ink buildup on these components can affect paper feeding.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Ensure there are no obstructions or debris inside the printer that could be causing the issue.

**4. Reset the Printer

Perform a Basic Reset:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

Check for Error Messages:

  • After resetting, observe if the blinking light continues and check if any error messages are displayed on the printer's screen.

**5. Check Printer Status and Settings

Check Printer Settings:

  • On your computer, open the printer settings or use the HP Smart app to check the printer's status and settings.
  • Look for any alerts or warnings related to paper or print jobs.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website to download and install any available firmware updates for your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
