I have a HP DeskJet 2755 All-in-One Printer that recently has started have the envelope icon blinking while the "i" icon in a circle (information button?) is also lit.  There is also an exclamation mark to the left of the page counter at the top of the printer information strip. I cannot find any way to find what or where the error/problem is.  I have unplugged and plugged it back in twice with nothing changing.  It does still print, but I'm wondering if these icons mean something is wrong.  Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi @joyce849,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The blinking icons on your HP DeskJet 2755 All-in-One Printer usually indicate that the printer is trying to alert you to an issue or a notification that requires your attention. Here's what the icons mean.

Envelope icon blinking: This typically refers to a paper issue, like a paper jam, incorrect paper size, or a paper feed problem.

"i" icon (Information button) lit: This usually lights up when there is some kind of informational message or a general problem with the printer that might need your attention.

Exclamation mark on the display: The exclamation mark could be an alert indicating a specific issue, such as low ink, a cartridge issue, or another error.

Since your printer is still functioning, it suggests that the issue may not be critical but could be related to:

  • Ink cartridges (low ink, incorrect installation, or expired cartridges).
  • Paper issues (incorrect paper type or size settings).
  • Firmware updates (the printer might need an update).

Steps to troubleshoot:

Check the ink levels: Ensure that your ink cartridges are properly installed and not low on ink.

  • Go to the HP Smart app or printer software on your computer to check ink status.

Check for paper jams: Make sure there is no paper stuck anywhere inside the printer, even small pieces.

Perform a printer reset:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it for at least 60 seconds, and then plug it back in.

Check for any updates: Ensure that the printer firmware is up to date. You can do this via the HP Smart app or the HP website.

If the icons persist after these steps, you can try printing a diagnostic page:

  • Press the Information button (i) on the printer control panel. This should print out a test page and might provide more information about any potential issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
