OfficeJet Pro 8740

My OfficeJet Pro 8740 is has a blue screen. Using it with my Mac OS 14.5 wireless. I'm unable to correct the error, it does not need to be updated.  Looking at the forum, it seems I need a partial reset sent.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 is experiencing a hardware issue that might require a partial reset. Here’s a step-by-step guide you can follow to attempt a partial reset:

 

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Perform a Partial Reset:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup (the gear icon).
  • Select Printer Maintenance or Tools.
  • Choose Restore Defaults or Reset (this might be labeled differently depending on the model).
  • Confirm the reset when prompted.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Even though you mentioned that the printer does not need updates, it’s worth verifying if there are any recent firmware updates available. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve error codes.
