Microsoft Windows 11

The printer works perfectly until I connect it to my wifi and then I get a blue screen and error message. If I reset the printer and remove all network connections the printer works well, but what good does it do if the printer cannot connect to wifi or network? 😉

Hi @Gman42,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing a blue screen error when connecting your HP printer to Wi-Fi can be frustrating, but there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue.

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure that your HP printer model is compatible with your Wi-Fi network. Check the printer's documentation or HP's website for compatibility information.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Check HP's website for any available firmware updates for your printer model and follow the instructions to install them.
  • Restart Router and Printer: Sometimes, simply restarting both your router and printer can resolve connectivity issues. Power off both devices, wait a few minutes, then power them back on and attempt to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Check Wi-Fi Settings: Verify that your Wi-Fi network settings are correct and that your printer is attempting to connect to the correct network. Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is functioning properly and that other devices can connect to it without any issues.
  • Reset Printer Network Settings: If you're still encountering issues, try resetting your printer's network settings to factory defaults. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
  • Update Router Firmware: Ensure that your router's firmware is up-to-date. Check the manufacturer's website for any available updates and follow the instructions to install them.
  • Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup): If your router supports WPS, try using it to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network. WPS allows for easy, one-touch wireless network setup.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the blue screen error and successfully connect your HP printer to your Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
