My printer all of a sudden has the dreaded 00829C28 error and nothing clears it. Hard reset etc removing ink, cleaning electrodes nothing works. I’ve seen same forums where they said it was an issue with using non-hp ink carriages. This cannot be the issue because I’m on the hp instant ink program. I did see a pool of black ink in the black underneath the black ink slot but I have no idea how long it’s been there. Please help!!

Hi @Sdade,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The 00829C98 error on the HP ENVY Photo 7155 usually indicates a hardware issue, often related to the ink system. Since you're using HP Instant Ink cartridges and have already tried several troubleshooting steps, there are a few additional steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.
Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts and Printer Carriage:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the printer to access the ink cartridges.
- Remove the ink cartridges and gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and the printer's carriage using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
Check for Ink Leaks and Clean the Printer:
- Inspect the area around the black ink slot and clean any spilled or pooled ink.
- Use a clean, damp cloth to gently wipe any ink residue inside the printer.
Reset the Printer:
- Unplug the printer from the power source while it's still on.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.
Run a Printer Diagnostic:
- Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix common printing and scanning problems. You can download it from the HP support website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
