I have an HP Inkjet Pro 8710. We had an electrical storm with a quick power off and on.  Later we noticed the blue screen error. We tried to hard reset several times. No success. With the other solution offered, how do you remove the ink cartridges with the carriage seated to the right. When I open the ink compartment, they do not move to the left for removal.

Hi @Britbaby,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the ink cartridge carriage in your HP Inkjet Pro 8710 is stuck on the right side and doesn't move to the left for removal, you may need to manually move it yourself. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you remove the ink cartridges.

  • Turn off the printer: Ensure the printer is powered off to avoid any potential accidents.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door: Lift the ink cartridge access door. This usually provides access to the ink cartridge carriage.
  • Manually move the carriage: Gently push the ink cartridge carriage to the left. You may need to apply a bit of force, but be careful not to exert too much pressure to avoid damaging the printer.
  • Remove the ink cartridges: Once the carriage is in a position where you can access the ink cartridges, carefully remove each cartridge by pressing down on the cartridge and then pulling it out of its slot.
  • Inspect for damage: While you have the cartridges removed, it's a good idea to inspect them for any signs of damage, such as leaks or electrical contacts. Also, check inside the printer for any debris or obstructions that may be causing the carriage to stick.
  • Reinstall cartridges (optional): If you're planning to continue using the printer after resolving the issue, you can reinstall the ink cartridges once you've addressed any underlying problems.
  • Close the ink cartridge access door: Once you've removed the cartridges and/or resolved any issues, close the ink cartridge access door securely.
  • Turn on the printer: After everything is back in place, turn on the printer and see if the problem persists.

By following these steps, you should be able to manually remove the ink cartridges from your HP Inkjet Pro 8710, even if the carriage is stuck on the right side.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
