Printer showed a blue screen and error code B8CDED9C.

Restarted.

Printer printed again, but only a few pages and then errored out again (blue screen)

This time error code B8CAEFB8.

Restarted again.

Printer nog longer showing blue screen/error code.

All seems normal (on the screen of the printer).

However, printer is no longer showing as AirPrint printer.

Advice on how to resolve is greatly appreciated as for both error codes I am unable to find them via Google.

Thanks!

Hi @GertG3945,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is encountering some significant issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the problem.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Go to HP’s website, enter your printer model, and check for any available firmware updates.
  • If an update is available, follow the instructions to install it.

Reset Network Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the network settings and select "Restore Network Settings" or a similar option. This will reset the printer’s network configuration.
  • Reconnect the printer to your network and check if it reappears as an AirPrint printer.

Reconfigure AirPrint:

  • On your Mac or iOS device, go to Settings > Printers & Scanners (Mac) or Settings > Printers & Scanners (iOS) and remove the existing printer.
  • Add the printer again, ensuring it’s connected to the same network as your devices.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • If the issue persists, you may need to perform a factory reset. Refer to the printer’s user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Check Printer Status:

  • Verify that the printer is online and not in an error state. Sometimes a printer can appear to be normal but still have underlying issues.

Inspect for Hardware Issues:

  • Check for any physical issues like paper jams or toner problems that might be causing the printer to malfunction.

These steps should help you troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
