My printer has a blue screen with the code D81ADFB4 on the screen. It is not flashing. I have tried unplugging the printer, leaving it unplugged for over 10 minutes, but when I re-connect it, it goes thru a loading screen and then back to the blue screen.

I am unable to print or make copies/scans on the machine.

@bwater, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to use the printer due to this issue.

Are you able to bypass this error and access the home screen of the printer?

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If this does not help, unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check.

If the printer is stuck on this blue screen, I'm afraid we cannot perform any troubleshooting steps. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

I had the same problem on my HP Officejet Pro 9025.  Bought on April 27th, '20 and today is May 17, '21... over a year.  Tech Service told me it could not be diagnosed and it was none repairable.  Also I am a couple of weeks out of warranty.  A no go and have to buy a new printer.  Sorry....  The price they gave me was the same as Costco.  Costco has free shipping!  Very poor service.  I have always been a HP printer guy.  Bought a lot in my day
