I experienced a paper jam and tried to pull the paper out. When I successfully pulled out the paper, my printer has been prompting a "paper jam" and "not enough ink" issues, and I noticed the springs located on the back tray now look like they have been pulled as well (probably from me trying to pull out the paper earlier). Is there a way to replace that part or fix it?

Hi @tlp-b612,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the spring on the back tray of your HP Smart Tank 750 has been damaged, here are some steps you might consider to address the problem.

Examine the Extent of Damage:

  • Carefully inspect the back tray to determine how the springs are positioned. This might help you understand if they can be repositioned or if they need to be replaced.

Reset the Printer:

  • Sometimes a simple reset can help clear error messages:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait about 60 seconds and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Inspect for Remaining Debris:

  • Double-check the printer for any remnants of paper or debris that may have been left from the jam, as this could affect the sensors and cause the error messages.

Replace the Springs:

  • If the springs are damaged, and repositioning them doesn’t solve the issue, replacement might be necessary.
  • Check HP’s parts store or local authorized service providers to purchase the specific replacement part. Not all components might be available for direct purchase, so professional service might be needed.

Ink Levels:

  • Also, since you're getting a "not enough ink" message, make sure your ink levels are adequate. It's possible the cartridge needs proper reseating or replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
