Bypass Setup Cartridges

HP Recommended
HP Desk Jet Plus 4155
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I just bought this refurbished printer off of ebay. everything was going fine in the setup until it got to the setup cartridges part. The company sent two HP Cartridges with the printer but the printer won't accept them as her own. Why? This is so inconvenient. Why isn't there an option to just bypass this? Why is this so difficult. Please Help. This is dumb.

@BreadAndButter, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

SETUP ink cartridges are used to set up a new HP printer or printhead and supply ink for the first series of your print jobs. They are specially designed to initialize a printer and calibrate ink levels.

If you do not have setup ink cartridges, let us try to bypass it by performing a reset on the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
