Hi @VARUN245

If the control panel buttons on your HP LaserJet Pro M405d printer are unresponsive (except for the OK button), and you're experiencing paper jams with specific print jobs, you can attempt the following troubleshooting steps:

Steps to Resolve Control Panel Issues

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Restart the Printer:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    2. Wait for about 30 seconds.
    3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
    4. Check if the control panel buttons are responsive after the restart.

2. Update Printer Firmware

  • Firmware Upgrade:
    • Download the latest firmware from the HP Support website.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the firmware. This may help resolve bugs related to the control panel.

3. Reset Printer Settings

  • Restore Factory Defaults:
    • Since the control panel buttons are unresponsive, resetting through the control panel is difficult. However, if possible, try resetting the printer to factory defaults using the OK button, if applicable, by navigating:
      • Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.

4. Check for Physical Obstructions

  • Inspect the Buttons:
    • Ensure there is no physical obstruction under the buttons, such as dirt or debris, which might be causing them to stick or not respond.

5. Check for Software and Driver Updates

  • Reinstall Drivers:
    • Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers on your computer to ensure no software issue is causing the unresponsiveness.
    • Ensure you use genuine HP drivers from the HP Support website.

6. Paper Jam and Handling

  • Correct Paper Loading:

    • Ensure the paper loaded in the tray matches the paper size and type settings in the printer.
    • For specific paper types like stamp paper, ensure you’ve adjusted the printer settings to accommodate this media type.
  • Adjust Tray Settings:

    • Make sure the paper guides in the trays are adjusted correctly to fit the paper.

7. Check for System Logs or Error Messages

  • Review Error Logs:
    • Analyze any error messages or system logs available either via the printer's LCD or through the HP Smart app or software.
