HP Envy 7855

Printer will not restart completely. I tried restarting and the blue loading screen bar completes, but it stays on the first dot. I've tried unplugging for 10min to 2 days and plugging back in, in order. I've made sure my internet is online, and removed it from my route.  I've restarted all my devices that have ever connected to it. Printer is plugged directly into the wall. I saw someone else here was helped and was sent instructions via DM...hoping for the same.  I'm a dog trainer/rescue and can't afford another printer, Thanks!  (this site doesn't accept my serial # at times as well (#[Personal Information Removed])

Hi @MsDulceCat,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your HP Envy 7855 printer. While I can't send instructions via DM, I can certainly provide some troubleshooting steps here that might help resolve the issue. Given the steps you've already tried, let's proceed with a bit more advanced troubleshooting:

1. Hard Reset

You've mentioned unplugging the printer, but let's try a specific sequence to ensure a complete hard reset:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds to allow residual power to drain.
  • While the printer is unplugged, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to ensure any remaining power is discharged.
  • After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in and turn it on.

2. Service Mode and Partial Reset

If the hard reset does not work, attempting to access the printer's service mode for a partial reset might help. However, be cautious as this can sometimes alter settings or erase data:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold the "Back" or "Cancel" button (depending on your model) while turning the printer back on. Keep holding until the screen activates or a specific message displays, indicating you're in Service Mode.
  • Look for a "Partial Reset" option and select it. The steps to navigate service mode can vary, and not all HP printers offer user-accessible reset options.

3. Firmware Update

A stalled startup process can sometimes be resolved by updating the printer's firmware. If you can get the printer to a responsive state or if it's connected to a network:

  • Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page from a computer connected to the same network.
  • Search for your printer model and download the latest firmware update tool.
  • Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to update your printer’s firmware. Click Here

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
