I have been trying to use my laptop and printer, but they are labeled "expired" on the Hp app. This was 4ish months ago and I need to access the electronics I purchased. Are they soiled and rotting, I don't get the term.

How do I un-expire my products? HP won't help because all my products are expired. The app goes in circles, pick the product with the problem. I can't pick any! When I enter the serial #, the reply is, "That product is expired, please choose a different product". I am so frustrated, I think I may get Apple products from now on.

Hi @4DreaM7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your frustration with the HP app marking your laptop and printer as “expired” and preventing you from accessing support or features. The term “expired” in the app usually refers to warranty or service coverage, not the actual functionality of your products — your devices are not damaged or “rotting.”

Let’s go through a few steps to regain access to support and services:

1. Access Devices via HP Support Website

Go to HP Support and sign in with your HP account.

Enter the serial number of your device. Even if the app says expired, the website often allows access to manuals, drivers, and troubleshooting guides.

2. Use HP Smart App Without Warranty Features

Even if the warranty has expired, you can still use HP Smart for:

Printing and scanning over Wi-Fi

Checking ink levels

Setting up new devices

Ignore features that require active warranty or subscription, as those may show as “expired.”

3. Manually Download Drivers & Software

For laptops: visit the Support → Software & Drivers section and download the latest updates manually.

For printers: go to Support → Printers → [Your Model] → Software & Drivers.

This bypasses the app entirely.

I hope this helps.
