HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2776 All-in-One Printer

I am unable to print anything via my laptop. When I tried to print the document there were blinking lights, orange blinking light in coloured ink cartridge levels, info and resume button. on the control panel there is EE written not specific error number as listed on the website. I was able to print the info pages quite seamlessly though. and it had colored ink as well. So I am not certain if the issue is with coloured ink cartridges only. I did try to remove and insert the cartridge multiple times and cleaned the contact points as well

I am trying to get a callback from an agent but the hp website is designed such that I always land at the homepage of support

@khushiraw21, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The EE error on your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2776 isn't a standard error code, but it typically indicates a printer-related issue, often tied to the cartridges or hardware. Since you're seeing blinking lights on the ink, info, and resume buttons, and the printer can still print info pages, the issue is likely related to the cartridges or their detection by the printer. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Steps

Check Cartridge Status

  • Since you can print info pages with color ink, the cartridge might still have ink, but the printer may not be detecting it correctly.
  • Try printing a black and white document to check if it's only affecting color printing.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
  2. Remove both ink cartridges.
  3. Wait 2-3 minutes.
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on without inserting the cartridges.
  5. When prompted, reinsert the cartridges and check if the error persists.

Check for Cartridge Authenticity

  • If you are using non-HP or refilled cartridges, the printer might not recognize them properly. HP printers often reject non-original ink.
  • Try using a new HP-branded cartridge if available.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug everything back in and turn the printer on.

Run a Self-Test Page

If the printer is detecting the cartridges but won't print from your laptop, try printing a diagnostic page:

  1. Press and hold the Info button (i) until all buttons light up.
  2. Press the Resume button ( or triangle with a line).
  3. A diagnostic page should print. If it prints in color and black, the issue is likely software-related.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

If the issue persists, the problem might be driver-related. Try removing and reinstalling the printer:

  1. Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer and select Remove device.
  3. Download and install the latest driver from the HP website.
  4. Restart your laptop and try printing again.

Check for Paper Jam or Hardware Issues

The blinking Resume button could also indicate a paper jam or another hardware fault:

  • Open the printer and check for any obstructions in the paper path.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
