HP OfficeJet 6950 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Officejet 6950 has recently stopped printing files from my Windows 10-based HP laptop. HPSmart shows it is on-line, the blue led on the printer shows there is a good wireless connection, but when I print from eg Word or Notepad or Excel etc the file gets added to the printer queue but never prints. I can scan from the printer ok, and HPSmart can print diagnostic pages on the printer, so the wireless connection is good. When I look at the printer queue after attempting to print, the doc is in the queue quite normally and appears to be waiting for the printer. I have tried clearing the queue, even rebooting after clearing the queue, but the next print attempt just gets added to the queue. I have tried all sequences of rebooting the computer, printer, router - no difference.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

My feeling is that the problem is with the print queue rather than the connection or the printer. Is there some way of 'resetting' the print queue other than just deleting the files from it?

@RolyDriver, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your OfficeJet!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I can imagine how frustrating it must feel—your OfficeJet is sitting there glowing happily with that blue Wi-Fi light, scans are working fine, HP Smart is talking to it… yet your documents just stubbornly pile up in the print queue. Let’s try to clear that “traffic jam” in Windows and get things flowing again:

Restart the Print Spooler service (this is the little Windows tool that manages the print queue):

Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.

Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click, and choose Restart.

Reset the printer in Windows:

Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.

Click your HP OfficeJet 6950 → Remove device.

Restart your laptop, then re-add the printer. (Choose “Add a printer” and let Windows find it.)

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
