I have an HP Envy 7100 series printer. Im' trying to print onto 5x7 paper.  I load it into the photo paper tray and all I get is whirring and preparing. Occasionally it spits out a blank sheet.  This is lightweight yardstick that is no heavier than photo paper. Help?

Hi @bonchic,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If you're experiencing difficulties printing to 5x7 photo paper on your HP Envy 7100, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check paper size and type settings: Make sure that the paper size and type settings in both the printer settings on your computer and on the printer itself are set to 5x7 photo paper.

Verify paper placement: Ensure that the 5x7 photo paper is loaded correctly into the photo paper tray, with the printable side facing down and the short edge of the paper positioned towards the printer.

Clean paper feed rollers: Dust or debris on the paper feed rollers can cause paper feed issues. Clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol.

Reset printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer to see if the issue is resolved.

Update printer firmware: Check for and install any available firmware updates for your printer from the HP website. The updated firmware can sometimes resolve printing issues. Click here

Try different paper: If possible, try printing to a different size or type of paper to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to the 5x7 photo paper.

Test with a different device: If you have access to another device, such as a different computer or a smartphone, try printing from that device to see if the issue is related to your computer or the printer itself.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the printer. In that case, you may need to contact HP phone support for further assistance or consider getting the printer repaired.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
