I have a Deskjet 2540 (old I know, but it works just fine). I wasn't able to get the 301 cartridges that it uses where i live, so I bought the 61 cartridges which are supposed to be compatible. Upon installation i get an ' incompatible ink cartridge -the cartridges listed above are not intended for use in this printer as it is currently configured' message. I have checked through the support pages and there is a response from 2018 but the page has been removed. I would appreciate it if any one could help as this will be an ongoing problem for me, as i don't think my local dealers plan to stock the 301s.

You need to use 301, HP 61 are for American region printers.
