HP Officejet 2620 All-in-One Printer
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I tried to install the printer (HP Officejet 2620 All-in-One Printer) to a new computer MacBook Pro macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6 using USB cable. I downloaded the driver from here https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-2620-all-in-one-printer-series/5357283.... Do I need to download the firmware as well?

I opened the downloaded driver "HP Easy Start" and followed the steps. When I reached the "Add and Verify Your Device" page and click "Add Device..." an error message popped up saying "Cannot configure the device software".

I went back to previous steps and install the HP Easy Scan update, click next and reach the "Add and Verify Your Device" page and received the same error message. I tried going back and installing the HP Easy Scan update several times and always received the same error message.

I tried deleting "HP Officejet 2620 series" in the System Preference by clicking "-" and adding it back again "+" but it still doesn't work. I don't want to right-click and reset printing system since it will delete all the other printers too. I don't have any antivirus software installed. Please help, thank you.

Hi @vamp99,

Uninstall the HP Software-

1. Click Finder in the Dock.

2. In the menu bar, click Go, click Applications, and then open the HP or Hewlett Packard folder.

a) If HP Uninstaller is in the folder, double click it, and then follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the software.

b) If HP Uninstaller is not in the folder, continue to the next step.

3. Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.

4. In the menu bar, click Go, click Go to Folder, type /Library/Printers, then click Go.

The Printers folder opens.

5. Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.

6. Restart the Mac.

7. Right-click or Ctrl + click the Trash icon, and then select Empty Trash.

To update Mac, try these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Reinstall the drivers-Software and drivers for HP Officejet 2620 All-in-One Printer series
