Hp4520 no printer selected message .It shows the printer is available

Welcome to the HP Support Community! 

 

Hi, I understand that your HP 4520 shows as available but isn't connecting properly. Here are some steps to fix this issue:

1. Restart Everything

  • Restart your printer, PC, and router to refresh the connection.
  • If using USB, unplug and reconnect it.

2. Check Printer Status

  • On Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your HP 4520, and make sure it's set as default.
  • On Mac: System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, check if the printer is selected correctly.

3. Remove and Reinstall the Printer

Windows:

  1. Go to Devices & Printers
  2. Remove the HP 4520
  3. Reinstall it using HP Smart or HP Print & Scan Doctor

Mac:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners
  2. Remove the HP 4520 and re-add it

4. Reset Network Settings (If Wireless)

  • Press and hold the Wireless & Cancel buttons on the printer for 5 seconds to reset the network.
  • Reconnect using HP Smart or the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

5. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows Only)

  • Download from HP Support and follow the troubleshooting steps.
