I have no problems printing normal print jobs including greeting cards and photos. However when I try to print an envelope it just doesn't work.

Hi @MoMan21,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

To help you resolve the issue with printing envelopes on your HP Smart Tank 7000, here are some questions.

  1. What size and type of envelope are you trying to print? Is it a standard size or a custom size?
  2. Have you selected the correct paper type and size in the printer settings before printing?
  3. Are you using the correct paper tray for printing envelopes? Is the envelope loaded correctly?
  4. Are you receiving any error messages or alerts when attempting to print the envelope?
  5. What software or application are you using to print the envelope?

Check Envelope Size and Type:

  • Make sure you are using the correct envelope size and type that the HP Smart Tank 7000 supports. Refer to the printer’s user manual for the supported envelope sizes.

Load Envelopes Properly:

  • Load the envelopes into the correct paper tray or feeder. Ensure that the envelopes are properly aligned and inserted according to the printer’s guidelines.

Select Envelope Paper Size:

  • In your print settings, select the envelope size from the Paper Size dropdown menu. Ensure that this matches the size of the envelope you are using.

Adjust Printer Settings:

  • Open the printer settings on your computer and select Envelope as the paper type. This can usually be found in the Print Preferences or Advanced Settings.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @MoMan21,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the paper tray or the printer itself. Clear any jams if present.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Updating the firmware can resolve various printing issues.

Use HP Smart App:

  • If you are using the HP Smart app, make sure it is up-to-date. Open the app, select your printer, and check if there are any settings or updates related to envelope printing.

Print a Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page or another document to ensure that the printer is functioning correctly. This can help identify if the issue is specific to envelope printing.

Consult the Printer Manual:

  • Refer to the HP Smart Tank 7000 printer manual for specific instructions on printing envelopes. There may be additional settings or steps required. Click here

These steps should help you troubleshoot the envelope printing issue on your HP Smart Tank 7000.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, contact HP Support for further assistance.
