All printer tanks are full but getting an E'7/empty cyan tank' message. Tried, via the app and website, to clean print heads but the response is that the printer is unavailable (possibly due to the error message?). Will factory reset solve the issue? Something else? Thx

General advice on printhead cleaning is here.
This link shows cleaning the 8600 printhead and removal is shown here.

This is another type of printhead cleaning, different from the above.

Cleaning and removing ink is shown below by our "Scullery" team.

An HP original video on how to clean the printheads by our experts. Yes, this can get messy, but it works. If your ink levels are good but you are printing blank pages then this is likely the solution.

Official HP advice on cleaning.

Some printers have a printhead cleaning procedure.

To clean the printhead on an HP printer, access the printer settings through the HP Smart app, navigate to "Print Quality Tools," and select "Clean Printhead"; this will initiate a cleaning cycle where the printer will automatically run a cleaning process to clear any clogs in the printhead

Inkjet and printhead cleaning kits are available

Consumer inkjet printer printheads typically last for several years, with some lasting up to 10 years or even longer. However, the lifespan can vary greatly depending on usage, maintenance, and environmental factors.

Thanks for your reply; however I have a 670 model with tanks and not cartridges.

The firmware is updated and all the tanks are full of ink. The E7 error message is only indicating an issue with the cyan colour.

The printer will not respond to software requests to clean the printer heads nor to using the buttons on the printer itself (4+ seconds on the on/off button plus 2 pushes on colour prints, etc.).

I haven't found any info/videos on how to remove and clean the printer head for a smart tank 670.

thank you for posting this information. I was unaware that tanks had no cartridges, my mistake.

I did find a video, not sure how useful it is

Cleaning the printheads is part of the routine maintenance needed to keep your HP Smart Tank printer functioning properly. If you are experiencing pages coming out streaked, faded, blurry, blank, abnormal lines, or with other print quality issues then cleaning the printheads might help fix this ...
