I cannot print in colour and if I change to the Colour option in printer options it changes back to monochrome and reports back that the Color was changed because of a conflict with another printer setting. My printer is HP Envy 4520. This has been going on for years and I am not a high user and I have just put up with it but it is so annoying! Enough is enough. If I cant get it sorted I will just get rid of the printer.

Hi @TEH04,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue with your HP Envy 4520 printer. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Restart Your Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor issues. Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause various issues. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers and software for your HP Envy 4520 printer. Install them on your computer and see if that resolves the problem.
  • Check Printer Settings: Make sure that the printer settings on your computer are correctly configured. Open the printer properties or preferences dialog and ensure that the color option is selected and not set to monochrome.
  • Reset Printer Settings: Sometimes, resetting the printer settings to default can help resolve conflicts. Refer to your printer's manual on how to reset it to factory settings.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually check for firmware updates through the printer's control panel menu or the HP website.
  • Check for Conflicting Software: Ensure that there are no conflicting software or settings on your computer that might be overriding the printer settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
