Hi @sjglueckpalaw,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The F0.01.01.02 error on your HP OfficeJet 8130e indicates a firmware corruption issue, which is preventing the printer from booting properly. Since you cannot access the menu and a factory reset did not resolve the issue.

Try Forced Firmware Recovery

Since the printer is stuck at the error screen, follow these steps:

1. Try a Hard Reset First (if not already done)

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable from the back.
  • Wait 2-3 minutes.
  • Reconnect the power cable while holding the power button for 10-15 seconds.
  • If the error persists, move to firmware recovery.

2. Attempt Firmware Recovery via USB

You may be able to force a firmware update using HP Firmware Recovery Mode if the printer supports it:

Download the latest firmware update for your HP OfficeJet 8130e from the HP website:

  • Go to HP Customer Support – Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your printer model (OfficeJet 8130e) and download the latest firmware.

Prepare a Windows PC (preferably) and a USB cable:

  • The firmware update must be done via USB connection.

Enter Recovery Mode on Printer (if possible):

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Hold down the Back button (or "X" button) and Power button together.
  • Keep holding until a recovery screen appears (if supported).
  • If successful, move to the next step.

Run the Firmware Update on PC:

  • Connect the printer via USB to the PC.
  • Run the firmware file you downloaded.
  • If the printer is detected, attempt the update.

If this does not work and the printer remains stuck at the F0.01.01.02 error, the firmware is likely corrupted beyond recovery.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
