HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I am getting a carriage jam notification when trying to print an Excel spread sheet.  Multiple times.  I tried the Virtual assistant. NG.  I do not get a carriage jam notification when I copy something or when I ran a printer alignment.  Printed both.  Even printed a word doc OK but not with the Excel docs.

Hi @Jims1333,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the issue might be specific to printing Excel spreadsheets on your HP ENVY 5660 printer. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the carriage jam notification.

  • Check for Obstructions: Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions, such as small pieces of paper or debris, in the carriage path. Remove any obstructions you find.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for a few minutes. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer. This can sometimes resolve minor issues.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website or through the HP Smart app.
  • Print in Different Mode: Try printing the Excel spreadsheet in a different mode, such as "draft" or "normal," to see if the issue persists. Sometimes changing the printing mode can help.
  • Check Excel Settings: Make sure that the settings within Excel, such as page size and orientation, are compatible with your printer. Sometimes incorrect settings can cause printing issues.
  • Print from Another Device: If possible, try printing the Excel spreadsheet from another device to see if the issue is specific to your computer or Excel application.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to troubleshoot and resolve the carriage jam notification issue when printing Excel spreadsheets on your HP ENVY 5660 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
