I have had the carriage jam error message for a few days. I have gone through the process of checking for obstructions which proved that there was nothing in the printer. I am still receiving the carriage jam error message and the grinding noise when turned on. 

Are there any other processes I can carry out to clear the carriage jam?

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:  

Follow the link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03241387 in order to clear the carriage jam.
