Microsoft Windows 11

The print cartridge cannot move.  No jams were noticed when ink door was opened, and 2-sided cartridge was clear as well. Unplugged equipment from back as well as wall; not results. I did an alignment 2 days ago and everything went well.

@Camper12, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the cartridge jam!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP printer's printhead or cartridge carriage is stuck. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

1. Check for Obstructions Manually

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door and check for any small paper pieces, dust, or obstacles blocking the carriage.
  • If possible, gently move the cartridge carriage to the left and right to see if it's stuck.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Disconnect the power cable from both the wall outlet and the printer.
  • Wait for 60 seconds before reconnecting.
  • Plug the printer directly into a wall socket (avoid power strips or surge protectors).
  • Turn the printer back on and check if the issue persists.

3. Check the Cartridge Installation

  • Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges to ensure they are properly seated.
  • Make sure you are using genuine HP cartridges.

4. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Release the button and turn the printer back on.

5. Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware

  • If possible, check for firmware updates via HP Smart or HP Support Assistant on your computer.

If none of these steps work, let me know your printer model so I can provide more specific instructions! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
