HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a cartridge zone error problem. The cartridges are Z10 zone while the printer is set for Z20. I have contacted HP and the tech told me I have to go through a regional reset. Yet the steps or options are not in the the firmware settings on the LCD interface panel, all I have under setup is the OEM factory reset and that does not solve the problem.

I have tried the latest updates including a firmware update.

I have tried calling back the HP tech center but keep on getting a call back message.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let us know the country from where the Printer was purchased and the country in which the Printer is currently located.

To do a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.

2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region to which you want to reset it to.

Please do let us know.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Accept as solution" button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Have a great day!

First of all I'm connected by Ethernet cable to the printer, will that work?

Second I asked for the procedure to reset the printer from one zone to another.

So what happens if the setup cartridges are for a non US country and I want to reset the printer to US zone? But then the setup cartridges are for another country. And the cartridges used are for the other country and 2 are depleted so I can't interface with the main menu.

How would I go about resetting the printer for the new cartridges that are for the US zone?

HP Recommended

Old cartridges are zoned Z20, new cartridges are Z10.

Ethernet connection will not work. Again, let us know the country from where the Printer was purchased and the country in which the Printer is currently located.

Thanks! 🙂

I purchased the printer in US and is still located in US.

Printer is setup for zone 20 cartridges, US cartridges are zone 10.

I need procedure to change zone settings and configuration settings.

HP Recommended

You do not need to do region reset for this.

Region reset is only done when you want to use the printer in a different country than it's place of purchase.

Then how do I get the printer to accept Z10 zone cartridges which are standard for the US region, as the printer won't accept them and is setup for Z20 zone cartridges?

This document should help you: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c05318138

Also, we recommend USB cable for stable connectivity.

1. Launch the printer software from the desktop icon or, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.

2. Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.

3. Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.

4. If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.

Use the "Copy to Clipboard" feature to paste the values here or take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in private.

I clicked on the menu select and a window pops up- Select a printer- HP Officejet Pro 8600- USB and HP Officejet Pro 8600- Network. I selected the USB one and nothing comes up after that.

Ink status come up in network printer properties when connected by Ethernet but I can't zone select.

If I put the computer to sleep and then awake it a incompatible ink cartridges window appears but the CTRL- SHIFT RT Click option does not work there either. 2 buttons are available, shop-online and help select.

I had done all updates on this printer from the HP product update page.

I clicked on a monitor ink alerts and nothing happens.

I tried removing and reinstalling the USB printer and it doesn't solve the problem.

I removed the network version of the printer in device manager. Problem not fixed.

Cartridges that I removed that were working had this designation- CN04xAE with x being specific color designater number. The ordered cartridges have the ending designater of AN

So what now?
