Hi @AB571,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If both of your printers are displaying a "cartridge damaged" error despite trying new cartridges and cleaning them, there are a few additional steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue. Here are some potential solutions:

1. Verify Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure that the cartridges you are using are compatible with your printers. Using incorrect cartridges can cause damage or errors.

2. Clean Cartridge Contacts and Printer Contacts

  • Cartridge Contacts: You mentioned you've cleaned the cartridges, but make sure you're cleaning the electrical contacts on the cartridges thoroughly.
  • Printer Contacts: Clean the electrical contacts inside the printer where the cartridge connects. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.

3. Reset the Printers

  • Hard Reset:
    • Turn off the printer.Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
    • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.Turn the printer on.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure that your printers have the latest firmware installed. You can download the latest firmware from the HP support website for each of your printer models.

5. Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • If you're using third-party or refilled cartridges, try using genuine HP cartridges. HP printers often have issues with non-HP cartridges.

6. Check for Debris or Obstructions

  • Inspect the cartridge slot for any debris or obstructions that might be preventing proper contact.

7. Perform a Printer Reset to Clear Error Messages

  • For some HP printers, there is a specific sequence to reset the printer:
    • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.Wait for 60 seconds.Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.Turn the printer on and try to print again.

8. Test with Another Printer

  • If you have access to another compatible printer, try using the same cartridges in that printer to see if the error persists. This can help determine if the issue is with the cartridges or the printers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
