Microsoft Windows 11

I changed my ink cartridge to an off brand HP67 the other day. it would not register with the printer, so I purchased a HP brand name 67 ink cartridge yesterday. changed it and I am still getting an E over the 0 showing the black is still empty. I have tried resetting the printer and leaving it unplugged for a while. it still will not register. therefore, I have gone and bought a brand-new Cannon printer. I have always had trouble with my HP Deskjet every time I change the ink.

Hi @Warden2021

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a tough time with your HP Deskjet! It sounds frustrating, especially after switching to a genuine HP cartridge. Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try before fully moving on to the new printer:

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Make sure the new HP cartridge is installed correctly. Remove it and reinsert it, ensuring it clicks into place.

Clean Contacts:

  • Sometimes, the contacts on the cartridge or inside the printer can get dirty. Use a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab slightly dampened with water to gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridge and the contacts inside the printer.

Printer Firmware Update:

  • Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, an update can resolve compatibility issues with cartridges.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 5 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look for any specific error messages or codes on the printer display or software that might give more insight into the issue.

Test Another Cartridge:

  • If possible, test with another genuine HP 67 cartridge. There might be a chance that the new cartridge is also faulty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
