5540
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to print a document after clearing a paper jam from my 5540 printer.  No matter what I do from my laptop using wireless connection it refuses to either print the old document or any new ones.

I have cancelled the print job without success.  I have switched off and restarted both laptop and printer again with no success.

Please let me know how I purge the old document to allow printing?

Welcome to HP Support Forum. I think you need to remove the queue. For Windows, please try:

hold down the Windows key and press R.
from the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.
if the machine asks for Admin you have to accept this,
look down to the print spooler service, right click it and select properties
    click on the Stop button,
browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\printers or C:\Windows\System\Spool\printers (this may be hidden)
delete the job inside this folder
    reboot the machine

Regards.

Thanks, There is no preview so I had no idea which file was the one causing the problem.  So I did all that and now my printer is no longer installed.  Just spent a couple of hours trying to get it back.  When i did get it back the message appeared again so went through it all again and the printer is uninstalled again.

Think I'll buy a different make if it so difficult to clear the print cache on an HP printer.

Hurrah!  After going through it all again, reinstalling the printer, reactivating my account (twice) then restarting both printer and Laptop I can finally print.

Many thanks.
