Hi

Back in November 2024 I had an issue with my HP Colour Laserjet Pro MFP M479fdw having an expired certificate. I created a forum post, see link below, and was given a couple of answers which eventually resolved the issue. This was to sync the clock and then create a self-signing certificate.

Since then, I have reencountered the issue and resolved it using the information from the link above. However, in the past week the issue has been popping up each time we turn the printer on to print.

I have now found each time I turn on the printer the clock has been reset. After re-syncing the clock, I need to create a new self-signing certificate. Restarting the printer, I again will find the clock has been reset and needs to be re-synced and a new self-signing certificate to be created.

I searched to find if the printer has a battery that needs replacing but the indication it does not. The HP information doesn't mention anything about batteries either.

Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue?

Thanks

Peter

There is an internal battery, soldered to the main board and not considered a user replaceable item. I have not encountered one yet that had failed.

Hi Repairatrooper

Thanks for the information and confirming my thoughts about a battery in the printer. I guess this is then a first for you. 🤔

The printer is about 5 years old now and functioning as a printer and scanner really well, except for this battery issue. Disappointing to read it is soldered.

Do you know what the solution is for a non-technical person?

Regards

Peter
