Hi @C-rochet ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing issues with your HP DeskJet 2800e printer. A flashing color light typically indicates a problem with the color ink cartridge. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the color ink cartridge has sufficient ink. You can check the ink levels using the HP Smart app or directly on the printer's control panel.

Inspect the Cartridge: Remove the color ink cartridge and examine it for any damage or leaks. Also, check that the protective tape has been removed and that the cartridge is properly seated in its slot.

Clean the Printhead: A clogged printhead can cause printing issues. Use the HP Smart app to clean the printhead:

  • Load plain white paper into the tray.
  • Open the HP Smart app and select your printer.
  • Under 'Tools', click on 'Print Quality Tools', then select 'Clean Printhead'.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cleaning process.

Reset the Printer: Performing a hard reset can sometimes resolve errors:

  • Turn the printer on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer if it doesn't automatically power on.

Ensure WiFi or USB Connection is Secure:

  • If you're using WiFi, make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer or device. Run the HP Smart app to reconnect the printer if necessary.
  • For USB connections, check that the cable is securely connected.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the access area and carefully inspect for any jammed paper or foreign objects that may be blocking the printer's internal mechanism.

Clear any obstructions, close the access door, and try printing again.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor (available on HP’s support site) to troubleshoot and fix common printing issues.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Use the HP Smart app or HP's support website to check for any available firmware updates, as an outdated firmware can sometimes cause operational issues.
