I have an HP laptop with windows 11. The issue I’m having is with my printer HP Officejet 5212. I’ve tried to print out several different images sadly with no luck. Both of my ink cartridges are new they came with the printer but they will not cooperate. Is there anything I can do do get them to work. Paper prints out white blank.

Hi @Jellyfish_24,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here are steps you can follow to resolve the issue with your HP OfficeJet 5212 printer printing blank pages.

Check the Cartridges

  1. Ensure Proper Installation:
    • Open the printer's access door.
    • Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they're securely installed.
  2. Check for Protective Tape:
    • Ensure the protective tape on the contacts of the cartridges has been removed.

Perform a Printhead Cleaning

  1. Use Printer Software:
    • On your Windows 11 laptop, open the HP Smart app or the HP Printer Assistant.
    • Look for maintenance options and select Clean Printhead.
  2. Manual Cleaning (if needed):
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    • Remove the cartridges.
    • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to gently wipe the printhead contacts.

Perform a Printer Reset

  1. Power Cycle the Printer:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
    • Wait for 1–2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  2. Factory Reset:
    • Access the printer menu, find Settings, and select Restore Factory Defaults.

Align the Printer

  1. After installing cartridges or cleaning the printhead, use the printer menu or software to perform a cartridge alignment.

Check Software and Drivers

  1. Update Printer Drivers:
    • Visit the HP Support Page and download the latest drivers for the HP OfficeJet 5212.
    • Install them on your Windows 11 laptop.
  2. Set Printer Preferences:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your printer, select Printer Preferences, and ensure it is set to print in color/black & white as needed.

Perform a Printer Self-Test

  1. Use the printer's control panel to print a diagnostic page or self-test report.
    • If the page is blank, the issue may be with the cartridges or printhead.
    • If the page prints fine, the issue could be software-related.

Use Genuine HP Ink

  • Verify that the cartridges are genuine HP products. Non-HP cartridges may not work properly with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
