Colour printing very poor

HP Recommended
HP 6970 Inkjet pro
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

HP 6970 Pro. Great printer until 2 weeks ago. Colour went all to pot.  Did as advised l1,2,3 cleaning , aligning and more several times until it came good. Delighted. Two days later back to abnormal, spoke to HP saying it was 8 months out of warranty  & probably the print head. Not worth replacing head as very expensive; so told to buy a new one.

So persisted with cleaning, had two lots of ink used up and a third lot sent. Printed test pages until perfect. Tried printing color photos but all poor. Something is wrong and feel that after less than two years there is a poor show.

I think there is a flaw in the mechanism and frankly not happy at all as I pay £7.99/month for my ink and rarely use it all up

Test pages now say Cyan doesn't exist so what is going on?

Contacted trading Standards in Northumberland and say if it is mechanical fault or flaw I should have new machine sent out.
